The Cullman County Commission on Tuesday issued a proclamation marking Friday, May 6, 2016 as Relay For Life Day in Cullman County.
Commission Chairman Kenneth Walker and Associate Chairmen Kerry Watson and Gary Marchman presented to proclamation to the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Cullman County’s Helen Allen, Michelle Kimbrough and Shirley Wise and ACS representative Haley Marecle.
The proclamation reads:
2016 Relay For Life
Whereas, Relay For Life is a community event that mobilizes communities throughout the country to celebrate survivorship of cancer and raise money for the fight against cancer, and
Whereas, Cullman County Relay For Life on May 6, 2016, will hold the event for the 22nd year with a theme of “A Cure for Every Season”; and
Whereas, the Relay For Life event gives families, friends and co-workers a special time to remember those who have fought the battle against cancer, celebrating those who have won and remembering those who have lost their battle; and
Whereas, the Cullman County Commission encourages area communities, residents, businesses and organizations to join the Relay For Life activities;
Now, therefore be is resolved, that the Cullman County Commission does hereby proclaim May 6, 2016, as:
“Relay For Life Day” in Cullman County and urge all citizens to increase their awareness of this disease and participate in this worthwhile event.
